Getting up so close and personal with the Alpacas (especially the new born cria's) viewing the whole range of fleece colours, seeing and feeling the luxurious garments their fleece can be made into gave many a totally new understanding of the extent to which the Alpaca fibre can be used and a new perspective on the future of the industry. So if you missed out on our open days or just want to see and learn more about these amazing creatures, feel free to call Murray Judy or Mark at Encantador on 9399 7919 or e-mail us by clicking Encantador Info (12/05/2009) "BLUE

CROWD FLOCKS TO 10th ANNUAL WILLIAMS EXPO" As one of the premier
sheep shows in the state, with quality line-ups of merino and meat breeds,
traditional livestock, dog and horsemanship demonstrations, sheep farmers
were increasingly turning their interests to the long necked fleece animals
known as Alpacas. Encantador always
has a good selection of males suitable for herd guards, they are usually
sold in pairs to guard up to 400 ewes depending on paddock size and vegetation,
ages ranging from 12 months to mature (alpacas live for around 20 years),
we recommend mature males of at least 18-24 months of age. Alpacas
as Guards (page 1) "HERD GUARDS"
cost around $500 with discounts for packages, which is cheap insurance
for the money saved from lamb losses. (28/04/2009) "ANOTHER
TRUCKLOAD OF FLEECE OFF TO MARKET" Encantador was again a major collection point for this years WA Alpaca fleece clip, with more than 3.5 tonnes in total being sent off to be pressed into bales and then trucked to Victoria for classing and processing. The fleece is then
to be sold by the co-op to the manufacturers, spun, and woven into beautiful
Alpaca fabrics that are being made into all sorts of products from Topend
Haute couture Fashion Garments to, Jumpers, Blankets, Dooners and
even socks. (24/03/2009)
